ERIKA LOUW is the Founder and Managing Director of LGR Incorporated. LGR is part of a specialist legal and business services group that provides debt recovery, litigation, property and conveyancing services, as well as business process outsourcing solutions to many of South Africa’s leading financial institutions and corporate entities.

An attorney, conveyancer and notary, Erika holds BLC and LLB degrees from the University of Pretoria and an international MBA from the University of Bradford (UK). She is admitted to practise law in South Africa, England, and Wales, with cross-qualification in New Zealand.

Over the past 25 years, Erika has grown LGR into a diversified group of companies. She is recognised for her strategic leadership, commercial insight and commitment to innovation, governance and operational excellence, with a strong focus on building sustainable businesses and delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.

JOANNIE GENIS is a Director of LGR Incorporated and heads the firm’s Conveyancing Department, where she specialises in residential and commercial property transactions and mortgage bonds.

She obtained her BLC and LLB degrees, the latter cum laude, from the University of Pretoria and is an admitted Attorney and Conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa.

With 25 years of post-admission experience, Joannie has developed extensive expertise in complex and multifaceted property transactions. She oversees the firm’s conveyancing operations and works closely with financial institutions, estate agents, developers, corporate clients and private individuals to ensure that transactions are concluded efficiently, accurately and with meticulous attention to detail.

Joannie is known for her clear communication, practical approach and commitment to finding workable solutions to challenging transactions. She places particular emphasis on guiding clients through the conveyancing process with patience, transparency and care, while ensuring that they remain informed and supported at every stage.

She has played an active role in strengthening LGR’s conveyancing systems and processes, with a strong focus not only on achieving successful registrations, but also on delivering a positive and professional client experience throughout the transaction.

Joannie believes that effective conveyancing extends beyond the registration itself. It requires the careful protection of all parties’ interests, compliance with all relevant legal obligations and the preservation of valued professional relationships through professionalism, integrity and personal service.

SHALENE RAJOO is a Director of LGR Incorporated and is responsible for the management and oversight of the firm’s branch operations. Her role includes legal and litigation management across the branches, with a particular focus on operational effectiveness, service delivery, quality control and the consistent application of the firm’s standards and procedures.

She obtained her LLB degree from the University of Pretoria and has continued to develop her professional expertise through postgraduate studies and further training in conveyancing practice, contract law and labour law. This broad legal foundation enables her to approach matters with a practical and commercially informed perspective.

With more than 20 years of experience, Shalene has developed extensive knowledge of legal practice, litigation processes and the operational demands of managing legal services across multiple locations. She works closely with branch management and legal teams to address operational challenges, improve processes and ensure that matters are handled efficiently, professionally and in accordance with the firm’s regulatory and ethical obligations.

Shalene is known for her measured approach, sound judgement and ability to identify the underlying issues in complex matters. More importantly, she focuses on developing practical and sustainable solutions that meet the needs of clients while remaining legally sound and commercially appropriate.

Her leadership style is grounded in accountability, professionalism and a strong commitment to client service. She plays an important role in ensuring that LGR’s branches operate cohesively and continue to deliver consistent, high-quality legal services across the firm.

KARIEN COERTZEN obtained her LLB degree from North-West University and is an admitted Attorney, Conveyancer and Notary Public.

She joined LGR in 2003 and has remained an integral part of the firm ever since. Following her admission, Karien practised in the field of conveyancing, where she gained extensive experience in bond registrations on behalf of several of South Africa’s major banks.

She later transitioned into LGR’s core business of collections and recoveries, developing a comprehensive understanding of the distinct dynamics and complexities of debt portfolios across a range of corporate sectors. Her expertise encompasses banking, retail, services, micro-lending and other corporate collections and recoveries.

Karien has extensive experience in the development and management of both call centre-based soft collection strategies and legal recovery strategies, covering the full credit lifecycle from early-stage delinquency through to distressed and late-stage recoveries.

She regularly attends credit and collections conferences, both locally and internationally, to remain abreast of emerging industry trends, regulatory developments, evolving debtor behaviour and best practices in customer engagement and recoveries.

LINELL ERASMUS is a Director at LGR Incorporated and has headed the firm’s Standard Bank Department since 2010. Admitted as an Attorney in 2003 and a Conveyancer in 2004, Linell holds an LLB degree from Stellenbosch University.

With more than 20 years’ post-admission legal experience, she specialises in corporate debt recovery, banking litigation, collections strategy and the management of high-volume portfolios. She provides strategic leadership to a large multidisciplinary team, overseeing legal operations, client relationships and operational performance.

Recognised for her results-driven approach, Linell has led her department to consistent industry recognition in banking collections and litigation. She has a proven ability to develop successful recovery strategies, manage high-performing teams and consistently exceed client expectations in the banking sector, while maintaining the highest standards of client service and legal compliance. Under her leadership, the department has received multiple industry awards for excellence in banking collections and litigation, reflecting her commitment to performance, operational quality and exceptional client service.

NIKI STANDER is a Director at LGR Incorporated and heads the firm’s Foreclosures & Secured Asset Litigation Department. She graduated cum laude from the University of Pretoria with a Bachelor of Commerce in Law (BCom Law) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB). Having joined LGR Incorporated in 2011, she has developed extensive expertise in foreclosure litigation, secured asset litigation and banking recoveries, acting for some of South Africa’s leading financial institutions.

Niki is recognised for her analytical mindset, attention to detail and strategic approach to complex litigation. She is passionate about developing people, optimising the use of technology, refining processes and exploring better ways of working to strengthen quality, reduce legal risk and deliver practical, commercially sound solutions for clients.

In recognition of her leadership, technical expertise and longstanding contribution to the firm, Niki was appointed as a Director of LGR Incorporated in April 2026.

MARITZA CORNELIUS earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Pretoria. She completed her articles in the field of general litigation and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2005. She also holds the Right of Appearance in the High Court.

Maritza joined LGR Incorporated in 2007 as a professional assistant and has spent almost two decades building her career within the firm’s recoveries division. During this time, she has developed extensive experience in corporate recoveries, operational leadership and banking collections, working with some of South Africa’s leading financial institutions.

As Director of the ABSA Recoveries Department, Maritza leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for the strategic management of banking recovery portfolios across multiple products. Her role combines legal oversight with operational management, client engagement and performance strategy to deliver commercially effective recovery solutions.

Her approach is grounded in practical problem solving, collaboration and continuous improvement, with an emphasis on developing people and delivering measurable results. She works closely with clients to implement sustainable recovery strategies that balance commercial objectives with sound governance, regulatory compliance and service excellence.

THULANE MTSWENI holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of the Witwatersrand. He completed his articles at LGR Incorporated, where he developed a keen interest in labour law and employee relations, and was admitted as an Attorney in 2017.

Following his admission, Thulane joined the firm’s Human Resources Department and was later appointed Head of Human Resources, gaining extensive experience in labour law, employment relations, workplace compliance, disciplinary proceedings, dispute resolution, and strategic human resource management. In recognition of his leadership, commitment, and contribution to the firm, he was appointed as a Director of LGR Incorporated in April 2026.

Having been part of the firm for over a decade, Thulane has grown alongside the organisation and built strong, trusted relationships with colleagues, management, and clients. He is passionate about fostering fair workplace practices, providing practical labour law solutions, and partnering with clients to navigate complex employment matters with confidence and integrity.
